MIM recognises four notable MIM fellows — Genting Bhd Chairman and CEO, Tan Sri Lim Kok Thay; Sunway Group Founder and Chairman, Tan Sri Dr Jeffrey Cheah; Asian Pac Holdings Bhd Chairman and SEG International Bhd Chairman, Tan Sri Datuk Megat Najmuddin Megat Khas; and PT Siemens Indonesia President Director and CEO Datuk Prakash Chandran.
The title “Fellow” was reserved for a select group who had distinguished themselves through “eminent achievement in the practice of management.” Admittance was by invitation only, with the decision being made by the Governing Council. It was a means of ensuring that the best minds in the field of management were linked and identified with the Institute. The first was clearly intended to cater to politicians such as Tunku Abdul Rahman (the country’s first Prime Minister) who had clearly contributed to the development of the Institute but were not involved in the management field.
